hurt, about others, about ourselves and even about God.
Many times this belief includes non-truths or "lies" that continue
to influence our choices, causing us to make unhealthy choices
for years to come.
Many of us have believed that we were
inadequate, inferior, unattractive or unacceptable when we were
not. We may have tried to hide, to perform, forget the past,
"re-decide", manage our emotions, modify our behavior,
cope with our illness, or talk our issues to death in
analysis. When these efforts are not effective, we tend
to feel like there is no hope for real change. Our alternative
is to defend our unhealthy choices or to build higher walls of
self-protection, and the non-truths, the lies, become a stronghold in our
minds.
One of the keys
to restoration prayer ministry is
understanding that what we have experienced as truth tends to
override logical truth in our minds. Unfortunately, no amount of logical truth can replace
experiential truth, even if that experiential "truth"
is actually made up of lies. We all have areas in our life where the
experiential truth in our hearts overrules the logical truth in
our heads and these lies hinder the healthy choices that we
would like to make today.
Jesus came to
offer us new life in our body, soul and spirit and to touch
our defenses, walls, negative expectations, sinful choices and

our heart to replace our "experiential truth" with His
Truth, healing the hurt and removing the pain from our
experiences, leaving us with the wisdom to make Godly healthy
choices.
