Testimonies from our Students

I would highly recommend this course. It has been very enjoyable. I only regret that we have time limitations and that we cannot spend even more time fully digesting the information. (We have already expanded the class from the original 2 1/2 hours to 3 1/2 hours.)

"A fellow teacher"

This class has made me realize the need for prayer counseling. Christians around the world can be taught to minister to other Christians. I had been to a secular counselor and became more confused than I was before I went. I could not only have saved money, but could have had a closer relationship with God. Now I know how to trace from the "fruit to the root" and knowing the root of the matter can start real change in one's life.

I learned that condemning judgments and dishonoring of parents can cause the problem to come back on you. Since I have learned the cross walk prayer, I am praying it all through the day and I am teaching it to my 3 children. We have already experienced real change from so many things in the class. I now say "I got the power!"

Training for Prayer Counseling Ministry

is a three semester course in how to minister to difficult areas and bondages in our lives, by the power of the Holy Spirit. See our curriculum at Elijah House School and enjoy this sample:

Repentance with Restitution

Did you ever feel like a hurtful conflict was still unresolved even though you had sincerely forgiven them? Did you sense that they no grasp of how badly they had hurt you? Did you think that trying to reconcile was almost hopeless, because they had made no effort to rebuild the trust they had crushed? Your perceptions may be right!

True Godly repentance comes from a Godly grief about sinning against God first of all, and secondly, understanding how badly they hurt others. It is a broken heartedness about what was done without making excuses, blaming others or presenting half truths. It says, "Will you forgive me for hurting you by ______________?"

Remorse rationalizes and expects God to condone sin or compromise. It avoids consequences, asking for forgiveness or making restitution because it cannot face it's own sinfulness. It is sorry about the pain they caused themselves and seeks to cover their selfish motivations.

David demonstrated true repentance when he said, "I have sinned," without focusing on himself. He accepted the truth and focused on the damage he had caused, with a true compassion. He did not rationalize but was ready to face the consequences of his sin. He was willing to change his mind and heart and work for restoration. He did a 180 turn around and remained obedient. (ll Sam.12:1-16)

The Bible is also full of examples of required restitution. (i.e. Ex.22:1-17, Lev.6:1-5, Luke 19:1-10) God understands that true repentance will result in a desire to restore what has been broken or stolen. Restitution helps to heal the wound and rebuild. the love and trust. It makes complete forgiveness possible, versus presuming others will just forget the hurt. By their efforts to rebuild, they bless the hurt ones with Godly comfort.

The process of restitution also helps the offender to feel the depth of their offense and die to the selfish motivations that caused the offense. When offenders are required to prove their repentance by serving in a humbling way, with a brokenness and contriteness, they begin to appreciate the cost of sin. They learn to value the need to earn trust and respect by a life of integrity. (Psalm 51:17)

A person who is humble before God will value the privilege of being accountable to good leadership and will voluntarily "report in." None of us are so mature that we do not need to be accountable for our choices and motivations. We all need to know our areas of potential vulnerability -- the enemy certainly knows them!!

2 Tim 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

In the meantime, no matter how deep the hurt was, we should check our own motivations to see if we desire to see the offender repent for their own sake as well as ours. Will we rejoice when they are restored, reconciled and allowed to resume their place in the body of Christ? Can we bless them with every spiritual blessing? Do we look forward to being able to fellowship with them again? We must consider ourselves lest we fall in the same way.

Gal 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual,
restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself,
lest thou also be tempted.

NEED MENTORING OR FATHERING?
one of the greatest needs of those called to minister to others

In my opinion, one of our greatest problems today is that people are going into ministry of some kind without ever having been mentored or fathered themselves. I believe that the role of fathers today has been degraded in the public eye to the point that we have almost lost the vision for the critical role fathers play. A father's appropriate affectionate touch and affirmation are probably the largest factors in building strong personal spirits into our lives. Without the affirmation of our fathers, we will wander looking for our identity in many other places and perform for acceptance. Enjoy this sample:

It is on our father's knee that we learn that we are the apple of his eye - and God's eye. We learn that we are a delight, a pleasure and that we are desirable to be with. He communicates our value as a contributing member of the family, the community and the body of Christ. Being received by him, gives us the confidence we need to live fully out of our true identity, based on what our Heavenly Father says about us instead of performing to win the approval of everyone else.

We are not lured into sin with flattery, because our Father has affirmed our God given purpose, gifting, talent and callings in life. We are secure in bonded relationships and able to trust God when Satan's cheap easy counterfeits come along to lure us with empty promises. We are able to minister out of health and stability that is based on God's truth.

If you have been blessed with such a Father, please let him know how fortunate you are today.

If you are hurting as you read this, its not too late to ask God for a spiritual father (or mother) to re-parent you and love you with God's agape love. Ask God for discernment to know who has a fathering heart, so you will be blessed and love to life (and not hurt again.)

If you are afraid to choose for yourself, the following comparison may help you to be more aware of a true father and their motivations. These thoughts are taken form the book, "Mentoring and Fathering" by Schultz and Gaborit.
